OKRs

As a manager or individual contributor we have to:

  1. Figure out the pains/problems
  2. Define what we have to work
  3. Define what is an acceptable solution
  4. Define how to measure progress towards an acceptable solution

I have learned that the simpler they are the more likely we are to actually achieving them. Also, people must buy into this idea and they must contribute by creating their own sub-OKRs.

A good cadence might be monthly or quarterly, but it depends on the organization - bi-monthly is actually a good sweet spot as quarterly might be too long and 4 weeks is very little time to deliver a polished solution.

This video is what got me started on OKRs several years ago and I cannot recommend it enough.

You must have valuable objectives, they must be public and you must strive towards achieving them.
